June 1st

Its officially Hurricane season but things look like they will be quiet for at least June. Dr. Jeff Masters is currently my go-to guy on the hurricane information front and he has pointed out that both average Sea Surface Temperatures (SST but not super sonic transport) are lower than in previous years and that the total heat potential of the Atlantic (because hurricanes need more than warm surface water) is lower.

Be prepared but don’t fret. I’ll keep my ear to the ground.

Florida needs rain pretty badly, so I’m actually rooting for a low level storm or two. Or, I should say, I’m rooting in a ‘we could use it’ kind of way instead of the ‘I like talking about hurricanes’ that I usually do.
