Google claims that nine of you are using google reader to read my feeds . . . oh well. But for those nine of you; wow! Not really, but I did improve the feeds a little, and by popular request (>2) I have posted links to the different categories below, along with a special surprise. Continue reading ‘Read my Feeds’

Everything is now up to date with the latest stable release of wordpress (2.5.1), gallery2 (2.2.5), wpg2 (2.3.0.6), the latest version of the K2 theme and the newest embedded gallery theme with lightbox support.
I am writing this all mainly for future reference, but there are a couple of interesting new features. Aside from some pretty massive back-end changes to wordpress, the best new feature of the upgraded blog is the lightbox support. I might add this feature to LightandGlass.net after a little more testing. To see the lightbox feature, click on the picture of the inappropriately named wiener dog, “Rebel”
There is also now slightly better support for other media formats, which will probably matter to Hud more than me, but you never know. When Album Covers Attack
Let me know if you find any bugs . . . Jayrah and I are heading out to see our newest great nephew in the morning, so it will probably be a few days before I get the wrinkles ironed out.
stuffs gonna be screwed up for a while . . .
The hosting company I use lost a drive on “server43″ which happens to be where Vindauga is hosted. So, if you commented in the last three days (evidentially how long since they last backed up my site), then it is gone into the ether. Or if you are hud and posted anything recently, that is gone as well. Sorry.
A little bit of a new look, and some more gallery organization. Expect the next update to take another two years.
Lately the site has been getting increasingly slower. Part of this is due to the programs I use, but a large part is due to the bandwidth the site is using. I don’t really feel like I can blame TCH, who is hosting the site, since I have their cheapest/smallest hosting package. I do however feel like I can blame the increasing number of myspace kids who have been hotlinking to my images, and thereby sucking up my bandwidth. Seems my hotlink protect option in Cpanel didn’t like to play nice with my gallery2 install, so what else is there to do but upgrade everything again.
Motivated by my number two reader (Doc Wagner) I am posting about a non art/photography topic (K-tel still has #1). Although I have been taking some pictures lately, for another gorjus collab, I’m stalling on the posting. Otherwise, I have been working on making our other site function correctly in Internet Explorer. I had a problem with the way explorer would lay out my main page and navigational header. IE would basically take what worked well in Firefox, Mozilla, Safari, and Opera, and make it look like shit. So I have been working on a solution. First, I looked for a hack, but I couldn’t find any documentation of a IE bug that added whitespace, underlines, white blocks, or blank spaces. Then I came to realize that there are many people who simply accept that IE will screw up their page and therefore write seperate css just for IE, so that is what I did. Not here mind you, this is my personal shit, if it doesn’t look good on IE you should go download a decent browser. On our other site I added:

to the head of each page. This basically says if you use Explorer here is some code to make your borwser display correctly. I think it actually works. If it doesn’t I am not sure I really want to know; it is the effort that counts, right?
Don’t know what happened, and don’t have time to figure it out yet . . . sorry . . . I’ll get it working again tonight
Update: nothing like total failure to motivate an upgrade. most everything is working again, if you notice any problems please comment. new gallery, and new wordpress plugin . . .
Hud is going to be testing the waters here at vindauga to see if he likes it. By his request his posts will not show up on the main page here, you will have to follow the “Hud Stuff” link on the left under “Vindauga Presents” to see what he has written lately. I expect to hear about weather during hurricane season, and philosophy the rest of the year.
