A couple of days til the opening, and we have gotten some good press so far. This past Monday Jerri was on WLBT’s midday show to talk about the studio. Opening Reception
Saturday May 19th @ 7pm

Please join us for the opening reception of Light and Glass Studio, the newest art gallery in downtown Jackson and the first new business to open in the Old Capitol Green redevelopment district.

I have posted new images in the galleries on LightandGlass.net. There are new leaded glass pieces, new slumped pieces, and new photos I decided to put in the “scapes” folder. I also updated our Myspace page with some more current work . . .

This Saturday, February 10th, at Hal and Mal’s is the annual Hearts Against Aids benefit auction, the silent auction starts at 6pm and the live auction starts at 9pm. Jerri and I both donated work, so you can go and bid on our stuff for a good cause.

As many of our five loyal readers know, we recently had a friend design a logo for Light and Glass Studio. So after some serious procrastination I finally got around to redesigning the site to incorporate the new logo and elements of it into the design. Now all we have to do is make a sign for the studio, and finish remodelling. The redesigned site is here and if you want to check out our slow (doing all the work ourselves) remodeling efforts the studio is located at 523 South Commerce Street, in downtown Jackson. Commerce street is the same street Hal and Mal’s is on, we are just a couple of blocks south in the Capitol Green area.
Despite her dislike of the picture (which I did not take), I wanted to post a link to a short article in the Clinton News about her recent admission to the Craftsmen’s Guild.

Light and Glass Studios will be participating in Handworks Market this weekend. The show will be Friday from 9am to 6pm and Saturday from 9am to 4pm. Jerri has several new glass pieces, and I have some new photos to display as well.
Lots of great gift options, Jerri has jewerly starting at $10, and I have loose prints for $20. Tons of framed photos and slumped glass pieces as well. Make sure and stop by to say hi if you come to Handworks.

Sadly, since Jerri has no connections with a local photographer, she doesn’t have any images of her new work yet.
Jayrah recently found out she has been accepted to the Mississippi Craftsmen’s Guild. I’m sure it was because of the great photography of her work, as opposed to the three pieces she hand delivered to the guild (one of which has already been purchased). You should all buy lots of her work now, before her fame forces the market prices up . . . congratulations Jayrah!
