Guess what is coming up? You got it Hurricane Season. It starts on Sunday.
Don’t panic! Its going to be okay. Most people in the United States aren’t in danger; Kansas, I’m looking at you. But those of us in the coastal South might be a little concerned. Thankfully, the National Hurricane Center (a division of NOAA) has some predictions for us. They believe that there is a 65% chance of an above average hurricane season (and a 25% chance of a normal season). What does this mean? They are suggesting the possibility of between 6-9 Hurricanes (and 12-16 named storms).
Now, I don’t want anybody freaking out, stockpiling water and chainsaws, and waiting to take advantage of the eventual collapse of American civilization. 6-9 storms can mean a lot of things including that none of those storms reach land. We don’t all live in New Orleans so we won’t get stuck behind a couple of bridge below sea level with failing city drainage pumps. We’ll be fine; even New Orleans won’t have the same trouble a second time (at least, not so temporally close to the last disaster). The Mississippi Coast will survive another assault; honestly, there aren’t many trees (or buildings) left to destroy. They places that need to be most concerned are the ones that haven’t been hit in many years (but, then you haven’t been hit in years, maybe for a reason). Even then, we are all more prepared than before.
Sure, rising sea levels can be frightening but, right now, the Sea Surface Temperatures are fairly low which means chances are low of anything happening right now. Be calm but be prepared. Have a plan and all will work out.
Spot on with this write-up, I really suppose this web site wants way more consideration. I’ll in all probability be once more to read way more, thanks for that info.
