I was in the Magnolia State recently. I took some pictures.
Since I had flown into New Orleans but needed to get to Hattiesburg I decided to take the scenic route; I took highway 90 East from New Orleans until I got to Gulf Port.

This is in Mississippi but I had to cross a nice bridge to get here.

Then I took 90 through Pass Christian and was astounded at how evident the damage from Katrina was. That is, there wasn’t much left and it was obvious that there should have been. Just look, this was a street leading straight to the beach, not a block off the Gulf.

Wooden houses seemed to be all be destroyed but this concrete building survived. I wouldn’t have considered a hurricane as the big bad wolf.

The next day, in Hattiesburg, the clouds were interesting. I had a hard time balancing between the brightness of the sky and the ground. I guess it would have been a good time to work on HDR images but I didn’t bring a tripod.

I found a nice wall in downtown Hattiesburg.

If I had more time, I could have taken lots more pictures. Hattiesburg is cute. When I get around to it, I will post some of the pictures I took in New Orleans.
