This post is basically just an update on an earlier one. Seems that Sir John asked the “Baltic arts centre on the banks of the River Tyne in Gateshead” (I know that isn’t the actual name of the museum, but every news outlet I have read has used that description) to close the exhibit of the Thanksgiving series.
A spokesman for the Baltic said:
Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art at the request of the Sir Elton John Photography Collection has closed the exhibition, Thanksgiving, by Nan Goldin. After the removal of one image from the series it was no longer possible for Baltic to exhibit the collection of works as the artist intended and therefore Baltic is sympathetic to Sir Elton John’s request and supportive of the decision.
You can see basically the same article at many different sites, here is the google news search.
