I enjoy taking pictures of people, but I enjoy taking pictures that I like of people, not necessarily what they like. This statement does a very poor job of explaining why I hate photographing weddings, but like the idea of doing portraits. I am self-handicaping. I like taking portraits.
I also love to take pictures of mechanical things; be it shiny and smooth and perfect, or rust pocked and hammered. The mechanical things are the only photos, outside of my City Hotel series, which have a “southern sensibility.” I’m not sure I know exactly what “southern sensibility” means, but it encompasses all of the photos I take which southerners are willing to purchase. Maybe purchase is even going a little far, perhaps “act intrigued by” would be a better definition.
