Trying to keep up with the Jones’

Okay, not really, but Wah posting pictures really does inspire me to do more myself (or maybe I just want to procrastinate).

Had a picnic the other day and, as is usually for Florida, some rain rolled through in the afternoon. Exactly at noon to be precise, which threw off my game because I had expected it later in the day. I also hadn’t expected quite the monsoon that this turned out to be.

You can see the rain rolling across the bay. It might not be all that obvious though just how insane that rain is. You should be able to see the other side of the bay and you can’t. There is a power plant over there that is kind of hard to miss. You can see it better in the next photo.

Now you can see the power plant but all the land North of it, some of which you could see in the last photo, is obscured. I took this one however because I liked the “waves” that were coming into shore looked (I did mention that this is Tampa Bay).

But this is what I really wanted to post. This is, surprisingly, before the heavy rains came in and those are not the clouds that brought bad weather (ahh Florida, how I will miss thee when I depart). In this photo I actually attempted to adjust the clouds and the grass separately, though I ended up adjusting the clouds separately and then adjusting the whole picture in order to get the grass right (thinking about it though I perhaps ought to have adjusted the whole picture and then the clouds). I think it came out okay although there is a bit of a halo effect around the tops of the trees that I haven’t quite mastered avoiding yet. Still, the clouds are are great, all credit goes to nature for them though.
