This weekend I got the opportunity to take photographs of what will hopefully be the transitional stage of work on one of downtown Jackson’s landmarks, the King Edward Hotel. I added all of the images to the end of my “Jackson Series” album.
Just in case any of you felt I needed more images of the standard life building, here ya go.
those are some damn fine shots. i like kingedward 0043 and kingedwardHDR 00.
i saw some pictures of the hotel in the CL several weeks ago, and it looks like they haven’t made much progress since then … has the renovation work stalled?
Man, that last shot in the hallway is nice…really nice. I like that one a lot.
Oh man! I love the one from the back of the sign. OK, seriously, please take me to the King Edward the next time we’re in town. This is a true fact lifelong dream of mine. I’d like to see it before it’s pretty again.
“kingedward 0009″ is cool.
“kingedward 0031″ did you climb up to the roof? was that safe?
“kingedward 0036″ I like the distortion of the window.
“kingedward 0043″ I’m assuming, based on the title, that you just sort of wandered in, it kind of freaks me out that you got to the roof. But man is that cool. All the ones from the roof are just so neat, especially the ones of the sign.
About the HDR. For some reason, I have only been considering HDR’s as color photos, which I realize is strange because every time you talk to me about it you mention that Ansel Adams would be down with it and he is known for his black and whites not his colors. Anyway, I like it. I am especially drawn to the pale vertical highlight near the middle of the picture; it gives a kind of ghostly presence to the photo (I can’t really describe it).
Eh, these are okay.
(Ha ha, kidding).
I’m going to throw in my two cents–I love the shadow shot. We had just, uh, rounded a corner and spotted that shadow. And it moved QUICKLY. I’ll post my (color Polaroid) version of it tomorrow.
The roof is, quite frankly, amazing and breathtaking.
