This tour will go down in history as one of the most bizarre. Rasmussen is out for lying about his location for when he missed a drug screening. There are some reports that Rabobank will withdraw, but I have also seen news to the contrary (I haven’t watched any of today’s stage yet). Team Cofidis has pulled out of the race after Cristian Moreni tested positive for synthetic testosterone. (Moreni was arrested by French police at the race finish.) And the cherry on top, team Estana quit the tour after Alexander Vinokourov tested positive for a blood transfusion.
Oh, this post just felt like it needed to go in the hud stuff category . . . sorry hud.
I can’t believe that Rasmussen was eliminated from the Tour. Okay, I am capable of believing it, I am just surprised it happened. It kind of reminds me of my plagiarists, I bet he is really wishing he didn’t do whatever it was that he did.
I posted earlier about Rasmussen but didn’t check within the “Hud Stuff” section (though I did check the front page) so I moved my post into the comment section of this. All of Astana dropping was crazy (I was wondering were Kloden went). The Wall Street Journal today had an article talking about all the sponsors that were thinking of dropping off the tour (Addidas, T-Mobile, Nike). I really wonder what the standings would be like right now if Rasmussen had not been on the tour.
Man!
Any predictions before you watch the race on Saturday?
How close does the time gap have to be for Sunday to be a real race for the GC day? (as opposed to a race for who can finish first in Paris day)
