Starting today the digital collections section of the New York Public Library is available online. All images produced prior to 1923 are in the public domain; therefore the collection is heavily weighted pre-1923. Although this weighting of the collection leaves out a considerable amount of work, there is still a plethora of wonderful images freely available. Just don’t make money from your use of the images, and you are in the clear.
