Back when I used to watch Connan O’Brian on a regular basis he would occasionally have a bit he would do called “if they mated” where he would combine (poorly) the faces of two celebrities into one horrible amalgam. Well I’ve started trying to do the same thing with real people (i.e. non-celebrities). I saw the work of a photographer who combined elements from about 250 subjects, and they were slightly odd, but it was hard to determine exactly what was wrong with them. It made you want to examine all the aspects of the face in more detail, which I liked. (Sadly I can’t find the link to his work right now, if anyone has it, just post in the comments and I’ll edit this.)
My first image is a composite of Jerri and me. The outline of the face, the glasses, and the hair which isn’t sticking out are hers, and everything else is me (including skin texture).
The next one is a couple of friends who were willing to let me make their respectively attractive photos into an unattractive one.
HAHAHA man, that one of you guys is great and weird. I like the facial hair. Nicely done. The second one is also good. I think the skintones peek out a little more on that one.
What brought this about?
Yeah I could have done a better job on the colors . . . I honestly just don’t ever see me printing these, which limits my motivation a bit.
This was brought about by seeing the other photographer’s work (whose name or website I can’t seem to find), and wanting to give it a try.
(shudders)
I can’t remember the guy’s name either. Was it the fellow who made the composites based on cities and ethnic population percentages? There is a webiste for that guy. It’s got to be findable. I’ll give it a shot.
I’ve spent a good bit of time looking for this guy’s work (which I originally discovered online) with no luck . . .
