There is an image shot by a local photographer of the Ferris wheel from last years fair, which I am clearly ripping off, so some credit should be given to Hubert Worley (who I recently found out did some nice reproductions for William Dunlap’s most recent book). All of this is to ask which shot do you like better?
And in case you are one of those People (i.e photographers) who are really critical of camera motion, sharpness, etc. I have a detail shot of the first image just for you.
I like number 8. Number 11 seems like too much motion…like its gonna sling people out of it. But the detail shot is nice. But the more I look at em, the more I like 11. Aw, hell, ok, my vote is for 11 now.
Anymore pics from the fair?
I hope it took you a little while to write the first comment, otherwise you might be a little indecisive . . . I did some wide angle shots of the entire midway, but I’m not sure if I like the way the lights created lens flares . . .
I thnk 8 does a better job of giving reamining recognizably a ferris wheel; you can still see the baskets. While I like the super-speedy blurry one it seems fairly abstract. Like, what the hell is that blurry thing? it looks like one of those wheel thingies that rides on the metal tails, you tilt it back and forth to see how fast you can get it spinning before you flies off.
I don’t know, maybe if there was some other kind of reference in the blurry one, something to get a sense of scale or place (or a better sense).
post a pic of the midway. i wanna see more!
I’m gonna go back and shoot some more from inside the fair, and I will post those . . .
Blurrrrry! Love the detail focus.
