I can take photographs too

Is amazing how often I use this forum as a means of distracting myself from other, more immediately important things. Today we are going to test out my new-found ability to post images.I went to Charleston, South Carolina a couple of weeks ago for a conference. The hotel, much to my dismay, was about as far from the pretty part of Charleston as you can be while still be in the town of Charleston. So, I didn’t really get much of a chance to wander around and find interesting things. But I did blow off the last part of the last day just so that I would be able to actually see the town I was visiting.

I dont know about all that gallery stuff, so I am just going to imbed these here. I hope that they won’t be too large though I’m sure I could do something like put thumbnails up with links to larger images. I should learn how to do that, but that exceeds my procrastination quotient. For those who care about this stuff, I used my Canon Powershot A610. I shot at a suppossed 50 ISO, though I really need someone to explain to me what film speeds actually are on digitial cameras.

I found some trees that had, it seems, recently been the object of a mad pruner.

Basically, I think I think I just like bricks.

And rusty metal stuff.

I think the church speaks for itself.

ISO in digital refers to the amount of noise, but much like how film speed varied from manufacturer to manufacturer in film, so does the amount of noise at given ISOs vary with camera model in digital. Or at least that is my opinion . . .

that picture of the trees cracked me up.

We have two Cannon digital Rebels here at the office and I don’t have a clue what the settings/speeds/ISOs are. Not that I would with a non digital camera. They take fine pictures, but I do wish I knew what the hell I was doing. Anybody have a suggestion on figuring it out or a good way that I can become a bit more literate in that area?

What?! I was just asking. Maybe you knew of a website or something that I could read up at. I didn’t really want to pester my friends with lame basic-level photography questions.
