I finally got around to the much overdo updating of some of Jayrah’s art glass photos. Sadly, it wasn’t even for either of our sites, it was to use for a craft fair application. (Jayrah will be selling her wares at the Clinton Brickstreet Market this Saturday.)
In my traditional style, I was a little obsessive. I have never been very happy with many of my photos of Jayrah’s glass, there are just too many distracting reflections. The solution to this problem is an easy one, but building a light tent to photograph glass in took a while to work its way up the priority list. The approaching craft fair application deadline eventually motivated me, to construct a two-foot cubed tent out of matte satin with a small opening for the lens hood (which can be seen in some of the reflections).
I created a vanishing curve on the floor of the tent with white paper, and positioned my lights at about 45 degree angles from the floor on either side. I like the results, and if you can’t tell any difference I don’t want to hear about it.
There are a few more new images in the Slumped and Leaded Glass Gallery.
Sample2 is my fave, nice focal point! Pretty impressive job overall.
I wish I could get you to do my slides! I hate them, and I need a better digital camera!
But sample2 is an older one, right?
Don’t worry, I can see the diference in reflections, esp. in the winged creatures.
I think.
I love that you obsess like this. It rocks. Those are some nice looking pictures. I think it was worth the effort…of course I can say that not actually having expended any effort other than clicking a mouse button.
Kathleen- Sample 1 and 2 are older, but they were test shots where I tried to just cut a hole in white crescent board to shoot through, and put a light table on one side and a soft box on the other . . . which is basically trying to avoid building a light tent.
Doc- thanks, I think.
Man, I like them. They look uber-professional; very slick.
Plus I really like the necklaces
